Edit or retire shared content

Use these steps to change a block of shared content, or to retire a block that you no longer want writers to insert.

Before you begin

You need the Editor role or higher on a knowledge base in the space.

Edit a block

  1. In Authoring, select Open shared content on the editor toolbar.
  2. Select the block in the list.
  3. Select the pencil icon, Edit followed by the block’s name.
  4. Change the Name, Description or Content.
  5. Select Save changes.

DocSpade confirms with Shared content updated, and the block’s version number goes up.

Articles that already contain the block’s text are not changed. See Shared content.

Retire a block

  1. Select the block in the list.
  2. Select the archive icon, Retire followed by the block’s name.
  3. Read the message, then select Retire block.

DocSpade confirms with Shared content retired. The block is marked Retired and can no longer be inserted. Articles and published sites that already use its text stay as they are.
